AI, Art, & Education

I joined Robohood and a panel of experts to discuss:

  • Critical thinking: We must use our system 2 thinking as we define our relationship with technology in the Imaginative and Cognitive Ages (the 4th and 5th Industrial Revolutions)

  • Bias mitigation: To further the cause of equity for all humanity, we must learn to identify and mitigate bias in our thinking and our data

  • Irreplaceability of humans: Many things are irreplaceable about humans. I focused on that 6th sense, gut feeling, or hunch that something is off that makes us pause. For example, in 1983, Soviet Officer Stanislav Petrov disobeyed his training and orders and most certainly averted WW3 and countless deaths because he felt like something was off. AI would not do that—it would do exactly what it had been trained to do. Vox article about Stanislov

  • Why VTS Feels Like Meditation

Many people feel relaxed and recharged after VTS discussions like they just did group meditation. As I read You Are Here: Discovering the Magic of the Present Moment by Zen monk, author, and meditation master, Thich Nhat Hanh, I realized why that is.
